The Day The Dragon Ate The Sun
Art Basel Miami
On the morning of July 22nd 2009 - during the midst of the global financial crisis - the longest solar eclipse of the 21st century passed over Shanghai. Shot with 14 synchronized cameras, "The Day the Dragon Ate the Sun" captures the effect of an ancient phenomenon upon the city and its people, and explores the relationship between modernity and mythology.
I exhibited the film as a 9-screen video installation at the 2009 Art Basel in Miami, receiving interest from the Museum of Modern Art in New York (MOMA), and invitations from Art Monaco as well as other European and Asian galleries.
